My life was pretty ‘carefree’ up until I was 18. I grew up in a loving household, I had an elder brother of two years, I was academic at school and I played football nearly every minute I had spare. Suddenly, my life was turned upside down. On the 4th March 2009, my dad tragically took his own life. After years of struggling with grief, depression and anxiety, I made the decision to start sharing my story in the hope of inspiring others and helping those struggling to feel less alone. In 2020, Everymind at Work was born. My mission is to help businesses tackle the stigma of mental health at work and provide proactive support to employees. The support my Dad never had. Suicide is currently the biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. The biggest threat to my life is me. As a son, brother, husband and dad to three boys, I want to create change. If my mission can make a difference to just ONE person. That's all that matters. paulm@everymindatwork.com
